I'm voting Republican because.....

Thu Jun 19, 2008 at 06:58:04 AM PDT

Seen this?

http://www.youtube.com/...

A number of reasons to vote Republican.  It's good.  Good enough to get play on the 24 hour "news" channels.

But it could be better.  So much better.  And, in the tradition of Republican "campaigns" which are nothing more than mud ball throwing contests, lets keep up the pressure.  Run stuff like this till election day.  That way, when they continue to put out the ___ about Mr. Obama voters will have a clear choice.

Why are you voting Republican?

Lets put up a list, shall we?

Lie Bermann makes it official!!

Wed May 21, 2008 at 06:55:42 AM PDT

It's early in the am.  I don't have time, really, to write a real whole diary.

But I came across this over at realclearpolitics.come, or at least the link to the WSJ.

If you have any doubts that, metaphorically speaking, Joe Lie Bermann needs to be taken out at sunrise and shot, metaphorically, read the article below the fold.

Clinton campaign resorts to thuggery again!

Thu May 08, 2008 at 10:49:10 AM PDT

The Clinton campaign are nothing but bullies and thugs.

Think that's an overstatement?

Read the story below the fold.

I don't have time to fully diary this, sorry, but people need to see it.

Clinton's Bavarian redoubt strategy

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 10:26:21 AM PDT

If you don't catch the historical allusion you can read about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/...

Bottom line, the Clinton campaign will fight until the last building is leveled and the bunker no longer has access to the surface.

The impact will be devastating no matter how it comes out, but here is what I honestly believe they are planning:

Where have you gone John Edwards and Bill Richardson?

Wed Mar 12, 2008 at 10:29:56 AM PDT

The time has come for the leaders of the Democratic Party to stage an intervention.

Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, Bill Richardson, John Edwards, Saint Al, we need you to act now.

If this continues the Democratic Party will be a smoldering wreck and may very well lose in the fall.

Leave Hillary Clinton alone

Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 05:36:59 PM PDT

And how f___ing dare anyone out there make fun of Hillary.

After all she's been trough.

She lost Iowa.

She went through a divorce from the caucus states.  (they don't represent the electorate, we all know that.)

It's not easily defined

Tue Feb 12, 2008 at 07:49:46 PM PDT

I don't like Hillary Clinton's public persona.  I freely confess.  And I get it, I would love to see a woman as President, just not this one.  Bring back Barbara Jordan and I would do anything legal and ethical to help her get elected.

But Hillary Clinton grates on me.  During the debate in South Carolina when she looked over at Obama and said "... you never take responsibility for any of your votes." I knew that I could not reconcile to supporting someone who would say something like that face to face, particularly when, as a statement of fact, it is manifestly inaccurate.

And here is the latest from CNN.  Granted, I did not watch her speech.  But a candidate with the team she has around her, and I'll resist some snarky comment about the obvious internal issues in her staff right now, has speech writers with boiler plate that includes congratulating your opponent.  But no....

SOTU unofficial DKOS nealson rating w/poll

Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 03:50:47 PM PDT

So, here is tonights big question:

Drum roll please.

Wait for it......

When George W. Bush delivers the State of the Union Speech this evening what will be the state of the TV in your home?

You may recall a few years back when the police responded to a call that there was gunfire in a neighbor's home.  When the police arrived they found the man sweeping up the glass from what used to be his TV.  Apparently he had shot it with a shotgun.

When they asked him why he shot the TV he looked back at the officers and said, with all sincerity....

"Didn't you ever want to shoot your TV?

The Republicans Still Suck at the Internets Tubes

Thu Jan 03, 2008 at 05:50:13 PM PDT

In what is clearly the most hyped Iowa ever, the Parties themselves are tested, along with the candidates.

Knowing in advance that the hype was going to be huge and the whole nation will be watching the two parties had to know that everyone with an internet connection would be checking their sites for the live caucus results.

Guess which party has a site that is holding up, and which party seems to have their tubes in poor repair.

If this is "experience" I don't want it.

Mon Dec 17, 2007 at 09:32:53 PM PDT

I am sick of the "experience" argument coming from the Clinton camp.

So, I have a simple question.

The Clinton campaign claims to have nothing to do with the drug charge lobbed at Obama.

The Clinton campaign claims to have nothing to do with the Madrasa nonsense tossed around and at Obama.

Well oiled machine?  Experienced?  Vetted?  Ok, I have a question.....

Breaking! Larry Craig reconsiders!

Tue Sep 04, 2007 at 06:08:50 PM PDT

You could not make this stuff up if you tried.

On Countdown right now Keith is reporting that Larry Craig is reconsidering his decision to resign.

Don't quit Larry.  Hang in there.  Become the 800 lb albatross around the neck of the Republican Party.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Sen. Larry Craig is reconsidering his decision to resign after his arrest in a Minnesota airport sex sting and may still fight for his Senate seat, his spokesman said Tuesday evening. "It's not such a foregone conclusion anymore, that the only thing he could do was resign," said Sidney Smith, Craig's spokesman in Idaho's capital.

"We're still preparing as if Senator Craig will resign Sept. 30, but the outcome of the legal case in Minnesota and the ethics investigation will have an impact on whether we're able to stay in the fight - and stay in the Senate."

Why Markos Moulitisas won this "debate"

Tue Aug 14, 2007 at 11:44:04 AM PDT

There have been lots of good diaries about the "debate" on Meet the Press Sunday between Harold Ford and our founder.  I'll spare you the personal bona fides, but debate is my profession and I've been active in it since 1971.  So here is a debater's perspective on this exchange.

If you did not watch the exchange it's here on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/...  part 1

and

Victory in this sort of exchange is subjective.  Debates are not won or lost like most games where there is a clear score at the end.

Another Troll trying to create a record we don't need

Fri Aug 03, 2007 at 10:07:12 PM PDT

First, let me say up front.  A well spoken conservative with some sense of ethics and morals is welcome.  Yes, I read and listen to George Will, and no, I don't agree with him except on some baseball issues.  But I would never TR him off the site because I disagree with him.

But.....  and it is a big BUTT!!

No secret here.

Lots of conservatives have been trying to claim we are a "hate site."

Their evidence?

Posts on DKOS that evince hate.

Well, as for me, I have taken to calling them the 129Kers.

Their UIDS are very recent, 128 to 130 thousand.

They post obnoxious, hateful things, trying to get people to "bite"

Here is one new 129Kers, who, in my humble opinion, needs a donut diet.

Supreme Court approval down 15 points

Thu Aug 02, 2007 at 08:42:29 PM PDT

The latest Pew Research Poll shows the Supreme Court's approval ratings are down 15 points.

While it is still gets approval from a slight majority, it has taken a real dive in the last few months.

I don't know about you, but I've heard "elections have consequences" so many times from the talking heads that it's getting very old.  But, in the case of the Supreme Court, the 8 years of Bush have clearly had a long term impact on justice in this country.

Even if the Republicans can be driven from the White House, the permanent damage from the last 8 years will be much broader than Iraq and a disastrous run up in federal debt.

Scalia and Thomas finally have enough colleagues to do real damage.

Numbers and more below the fold.  There are some bright spots toward the end.

Request for a temporary increase in donut rations

Tue Jul 31, 2007 at 03:27:06 PM PDT

The recent dust up with Loofa/Falafel guy that seems to have increased the number of trolls.

Let me make a couple of introductory points.

First, I almost never TR posts.  Until this week I doubt I had done it more than twice.

Second, I think the long run impact of being trashed every night by BillO is going to be long term good for our team.  They clearly are afraid of us, you wouldn't waste that much heavy artillery unless you were real concerned.  The average American has no clue, still, what blogs are, and they certainly have no idea what this site is.  BillO is keeping DKOS in the news and when people come check it out here they will not find us a "hate site."

Third, we ought consider it a compliment they are focused on us.  With all the blogs out there we are the one they are taking on.

All that having been said I wonder how difficult it would be to temporarily raise the donut daily ration for a week or two until BillO gets tired of bashing us and his minions go back to their falafel sites.

I would gladly trade a bucket of donuts this week for a month or two of donut free life later.  Why? It's not the Simpsons movie.  below the fold...

Breaking: Bush to request colonial status

Mon Jul 30, 2007 at 09:22:04 AM PDT

From sources close to Fux News.....

Beleagured at home, reviled by the rest of the world, the leader of the world's oldest democracy today went to meet Mr. Brown, the new P.M. of Britain and asked to be allowed to return to the status of a colony of the British Empire.

When asked his opinion of Mr. Bush's startling proposition Mr. Brown stated:

Mr. Bush's petition for colonial status will be taken seriously although allowing the American colonies to return to the Empire is certain to raise eyebrows at home.  We will certainly look forward to evidence that this petition is well intentioned and serious.
But we have to keep in mind that Americans have always been headstrong about their national identity.  The made up their own version of football, are alone in ignoring the metric system, and they drive on the wrong side of the road. Bringing them back into the fold would not be easy.
